Caleb Williams ‘Excited’ to Be Bears’ Projected First Pick
The 22-Year-Old Phenom Confirmed He Is at Peace With Potential Teams Drafting Him and Is Excited for His NFL Chapter

Generational Talent 🏈
There’s been a lot of speculation and NFL rumors about whether or not Caleb Williams would refuse to play for the Chicago Bears if he were drafted there. He’s considered one of the best quarterback prospects ever and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him wield some power.

However, it looks like the Bears don’t need to worry about this continuing to be an NFL games for Chicago.
“If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited,” Williams said, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I’m just as excited. Speaking about Chicago, they have a talented team, a talented offense and defense. For anyone to be in that situation, I think they’d be excited.”
Hungry Bears
The Bears aren’t as bad as typical teams with the No. 1 overall pick as they got the pick from the Carolina Panthers. Chicago has some talent and played well to the end of last season. There are far worse landing spots for Williams. The Heisman Trophy winner is just happy that he gets to play football.
“I’m not pushing any agenda,” Williams said. “At the end of the day, the Bears have the last say. Regardless of how I feel, I’m not pushing an agenda of, ‘Yeah, I want to go. Or no, I don’t want to go.’ I’m excited for whatever comes.”

Clock’s Ticking
Now that the Bears know where Williams’ head is at, they have a decision to make. Justin Fields has shown some exciting flashes but not nearly enough to fully justify keeping him over drafting Williams. Caleb Williams’ stats weren’t as impressive last season as he threw 12 fewer touchdowns but there’s no denying he has Hall of Fame potential.
“Caleb Williams is as close to a perfect prospect as we’ve had since Andrew Luck.”

The fact that the Bears would even debate keeping Fields overtaking Williams is insanity. Look, I’m sure Fields is a great guy and he’s super athletic. However, he’s going to be due for a new contract soon and his ceiling isn’t even close to what Williams’ is.

This isn’t even a debate. Trade Fields for a second-round pick and go get the best quarterback in franchise history. It’d be in character for the Bears to screw this up but this seems like they’ll make the right call.
