Juventus Falling Out of Title Race

Juventus have now won just one of their last six games in Serie A and are quickly falling out of the title race. On Sunday, they fell 2-1 to Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Hosts SSC Napoli took the lead in the first half on a volley from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic had a bunch of chances but it just wasn’t his day. The Serbian hit the post on a brilliantly taken chip but only put one of his six shots on target.

Federico Chiesa equalized for Juve on a low right footed shot but Juve conceded a late penalty. To his credit, Wojciech Szczesny saved the initial effort but Napoli’s Giacomo Raspadori pounced on the rebound to give the Partenopei the win. Vlahovic will be among the Juventus players out for the next match vs Atalanta, due to yellow card accumulation.

Juve were undoubtedly hurt by missing midfielders Weston McKennie and Adrien Rabiot over the weekend. Punters interested in Juventus vs Atalanta betting should note that Juve’s midfield is likely to be shorthanded once again.

Right now, both of them are listed as doubtful and they’ll likely return after the international break. Meanwhile, forward Moise Kean is reportedly back in training.

Injuries aside, Inter Milan. Before Matchday 25, Juventus had conceded more than one goal just once this season. They’ve now conceded two goals in each of their last three games.

Atalanta on Four Game Winless Run

Atalanta played Wednesday in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 in Lisbon. Sporting opened up the scoring in the first half through Paulinho and Atalanta hit the post twice.

Finally, La Dea found an equalizer as Aleksei Miranchuk found Gianluca Scamacca, who calmly slotted home in the 39th minute. Atalanta weren’t clinical enough with their chances and had to settle for a draw, which isn’t a bad result given the second leg is in Bergamo.

Still, Atalanta are on a four game winless run, in all competitions. Last Sunday, they fell 2-1 to Bologna at the Gewiss Stadium and blew a lead. La Dea dropped to sixth place in the Serie A table and are five points behind fourth-placed Bologna. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has gone just 4-3-6 on the road in Serie A this season.

Emil Holm, who has started seven of Atalanta’s last nine in Serie A, is out due to a suspension for Sunday’s match. The defender started at Sporting on Wednesday and Davide Zappacosta can easily fill in at right wing back.

After a run of nine goal contributions in eight Serie A matches, Charles De Ketelaere has been quiet in his last few matches. The Belgian hasn’t scored or assisted in any of his last four Serie A matches.

Juventus vs Atalanta Match Analysis & Odds

Neither team has been in good form heading into Sunday’s match. Currently, the Juventus vs Atalanta betting odds give Juve a better shot to grab all three points. The hosts are +115 favorites for this Serie A clash and that corresponds to a 46.5 percent implied chance of victory.

Meanwhile, La Dea are +255 underdogs and they have won just one of their last seven Serie A road matches.

The Juventus vs Atalanta betting odds also list a draw at +235 odds and it would mark a fourth draw in the last five meetings. Juve pk, -0.5 currently displays -115 odds, while Atalanta pk, +0.5 is priced at -105. La Dea are relatively healthy, while Juventus have some key players out.

As Rabiot and McKennie have a dislocated toe and dislocated shoulder, respectively, Max Allegri will need to look to other midfield options.

Without the duo, Juve had just 29 percent of possession at Napoli and they could be on the back foot on Sunday. Without Vlahovic, Juventus don’t have a prolific scorer to count on either. Still, over 2, 2.5 goals sit at -115 odds for Sunday’s match with Champions League implications.
