2022 / Round: 4 / Pick: 122
All Las Vegas running back Zamir White wanted was a chance. The Raiders finally gave him one and he made the most of it. White was thrown into the starting line-up after an injury to Josh Jacobs and he thrived. In his four starts, White rushed for 397 yards on 84 carries, a 4.7-yard per rush average.
With his 112-yard performance against Denver on Sunday, White became the first Raider running back to record two 100-yard games in his first four starts. The timing couldn’t be better for Las Vegas. Jacobs enters free agency in the offseason. The Zamir White career stats don’t tell a lot. But his finish has given the Raiders something to be excited about looking ahead to next year.
Georgia Bulldogs
White was one of the most sought-after players coming out of high school. As a senior, he rushed for 2,086 yards and 34 touchdowns. He won the Sam B. Nicola Trophy as the national high school player of the year. But in the North Carolina state playoffs, he tore his ACL.
White redshirted in 2018 after suffering another ACL during the summer. He finally played in 2019, but was used sparingly, rushing for 408 yards and three touchdowns on 78 attempts. White led the Bulldogs in rushing in 2020, gaining 779 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. He was the team’s leading rusher in 2021, gaining 856 yards and scoring another 11 touchdowns.
White declared for the NFL Draft in January 2022. The Zamir White career stats for his time at Georgia show 2,043 rushing yards and a 5.3-yard per carry average. White scored 25 touchdowns and added 17 receptions for 132 yards.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders selected White in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. But White didn’t see much playing time as a rookie. White saw just 40 offensive snaps and had 17 carries for 70 yards. The 2023 season started out much the same. White had just 20 carries for 54 yards through the team’s first 13 games.
His first start came in Las Vegas’ 63-21 beatdown on the Kansas City. White had 22 carries for 145 yards. But more importantly, he helped the Raiders run out the clock after the Chiefs pulled within six points.
White had 20 carries for 71 yards against Indianapolis the next game. The Raiders lost 23-20, as the Colts were battling in the Broncos.
The Zamir White career stats have him gaining 521 yards on 121 carries. White has just the touchdown scored against the Chargers. He’s added 15 receptions for 98 yards. But he should be taking on a bigger role in 2024. He’s shown that he can handle it.
