NFL’s Most Points Scored 2023: Lots of Scoring & Winning
“Winners Go Home and *Bleep* The Scoreboard”

Chiefs, Still the Usual Suspect on the ‘Most’ Odds
Football’s not fair. How can you beat a team with the best quarterback and the best coach? On top of that, you throw in an all-time great tight end and a dysfunctional division and have a recipe for consistently owning. That’s why the Kansas City Chiefs lead the odds to have the NFL’s most points scored and most wins in 2023. Can anyone even beat them?
Most Wins in 2023: The NFL’s Top Dogs
They often say, “winning football games is hard”. And it should be. But not when you look at Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. Since 2018, their first entire season together, the Chiefs have won 78.1% of their games (75-21-0). This includes the regular season and postseason.
So it’s no surprise that they’re always in NFL predictions to dominate, as seen by the outright odds:
Philadelphia Eagles +400
Kansas City Chiefs +400
Cincinnati Bengals +700
Buffalo Bills +700
San Francisco 49ers +800
Dallas Cowboys +1000
Baltimore Ravens +1000
ed with the Chiefs at the top are last year’s runner-up, the Eagles. This team did win the most games in 2022 but that’s partly due to an easy schedule. Well, Philadelphia’s path is a bit more complicated now. And the team did lose a few key players. But with most of its core still intact, Philadelphia and KC are tied at +400 to finish with the most wins.
Others on this list are the presumptive top contenders, but what some caveats. The Bengals will be without quarterback NFL schedules, thanks to being in the brutal AFC East. And San Francisco and Baltimore have a history of injuries, namely to their quarterbacks.
So is Dallas the best bet here? In Mike McCarthy’s last two seasons with the team, NFL sacks leaders. Love them or hate them, the “‘Boys” are worth betting on.
Most Points Scored in 2023: Ready to Unload
Uncoincidentally, the teams most likely to have the most points scored in the NFL are most of the ones getting wins. You have to score a lot of points to get a lot of wins in today’s league. Who’d have thought it?
Kansas City Chiefs +500
Philadelphia Eagles +600
Buffalo Bills +850
Cincinnati Bengals +850
Dallas Cowboys +1200
San Francisco 49ers +1400
Detroit Lions +1400
The odds reflect the teams that scored the most points last year. The Chiefs edged the Eagles by a decimal point (29.2 vs. 29.1) while Buffalo came in third with 27.7. Then it was Dallas (26.8), Detroit (26.6), and San Francisco (25.9). Either of these teams is a decent bet to do it this season.
The Chiefs silenced all critics when they became an even more well-rounded offense despite losing their top receiver, Tyreek Hill. Mahomes won his second MVP and Kansas City won the Super Bowl.
But Detroit and Dallas may be the hippest bets here. Not only is Dan Campbell the most beloved head coach even outside Detroit, but the Lions had three 40-point games in 2022. The only team that had more was Dallas with four. And you can argue that Dallas would have finished with the most points had Dak Prescott stayed healthy (he missed five games).
Horse Shoes Up The: Our Crazy Bet To Score a Lot of Points
The Lions were the dark horse team last season in of scoring. This season, there are a few contenders from the Colts.
Wait, what? The Colts?!
The team is listed dead last at 200-1 to score the most points this season. The team is led by a raw (and we mean, really RAW) quarterback in Anthony Richardson. Star running back Jonathan Taylor may not play at all. And Shane Steichen is a rookie head coach.
But for one, the Colts have a top-10 offensive line. Steichen and Richardson will click and this may be like the former turning Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts into a juggernaut. And Indianapolis plays an easy schedule.
The Colts may have one of the worst NFL team records due to their greenness. But don’t be too shocked if and when this team starts dropping points.
