Yes, we just called the NFL’s most explosive offense a pretender. We don’t care that MMA, it would be considered a “can crusher” – a fighter that pads their resume by beating up gym teachers.
The Dolphins are popular and keep climbing the Tua Tagovailoa leads quarterbacks in ing yards and touchdowns. The running game is averaging a whopping 6.5 yards per carry. And with an average score of 3.21 points per drive, Miami is nearly guaranteed to score every time the offense touches the ball.
But that’s just one side of the ball. Miami’s defense is subpar and is ranked 25th in scoring. In both ing and rushing, the defense is below average. It’s why Buffalo blew Miami out on the road. And it’s also why five of its last seven games have exceeded the total.
The Loss is the Best Thing for the Eagles
The Eagles needed to lose at some point. This team has not played to its potential despite being 5-1. And the loss to the Jets in a game where quarterback Jalen Hurts played terribly is the wake-up call this team needs.
Philadelphia continues to rack up yards and move the ball at will. But the team is struggling to score with a 45.4% red zone scoring percentage, ranked 23rd overall. Hurts is a big reason, as he’s completed just 45.4% of his es in the red zone. The Pro Bowler has also tossed the same amount of touchdowns as interceptions (seven) overall.
And it’s not just Hurts. The defense has been hurt by quarterbacks, having given up the fourth-most ing touchdowns with an average er rating of 94.7. With all that, Philadelphia needs to get its *bleep* right to deal with the NFL’s top ing offense.
“It’s OK to [be] a little frustrated because sometimes you need that, to light a fire under everybody’s ass,” wide receiver A.J. Brown said. “I think everybody’s got this laser focus now. And you be needing that.”
Cry, Eagles, Cry?
With Miami coming to town, Philadelphia is facing a real possibility of losing two straight games. Tagovailoa is playing peerlessly while Hurts looks like he’s regressed. On top of that, the Dolphins’ juggernaut of an offense could continue to hurt the Eagles’ vulnerable ing defense.
