Henry Crushes Jacksonville, Then Turns the Page

That’s how you exit. Derrick Henry and the Titans had a rough season. But they managed to finish on a positive note by beating Jacksonville 28-20 and spoiling their NFL playoff hopes.

Following a vintage performance from the former Offensive Player of the Year, Henry took to the mic to address the Titans faithful.

“This is a great way to go out, especially against a division opponent, an opponent that I grew [up] down the street watching and looking at and following as a kid growing up,” Henry said. “So it’s all full circle, which is great to be able to finish with the win and finish with class.”

Indeed, Henry built a prolific career by running all over the Jaguars. In 15 NFL games against Jacksonville, Henry rushed for 1,546 yards and 16 touchdowns as Tennessee won 10 of the games. This AFC South rivalry will feel different if the former 2,000-yard rusher does not re-sign with the team.

And with Tennessee finishing out of the NFL wild card standings for a second straight year, it may be time for both parties to move on. But before addressing this, let’s look back at Henry’s career with Tennessee.

Derrick Henry’s Player Profile & Stats

The Titans drafted Henry with the 45th overall pick in the 2016 Crimson Tide to a 2015 CFP National Championship.

He ed NCAA and NFL.

Henry’s 2023 Stats

Derrick Henry’s stats in 2023 were modest compared to what he’s done in his career. But if you add it up, he’s just under 500 yards and 10 touchdowns shy of hitting the 10,000-yard and 100-TD mark in his career. At just 30 years old, Henry still has time to achieve these.

Where Will Henry Go?

Given his age and status, Henry’s best fit in 2024 may be a contender. As such, Kansas City, and Dallas are often mentioned as high-profile suitors. It also depends on how much Henry will ask.

Buffalo and Dallas are over their salary cap and will need to clear space to afford Henry. He may not ask for a lot and may just want to sign with the team that maximizes his odds of winning a Super Bowl. Regardless, expect Derrick Henry’s stats to dip in 2024. But he’ll still be a prominent member of a contender.
