Troy 2023 Future Odds: National Championship, Conference, Regular Season Wins and Player Props
Trojans Coming off 12 Wins, Sun Belt Conference Championship

The Troy Trojans reached new heights under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall in 2022, finishing the season ranked as one of the top 20 teams in college football. While Sumrall and the Trojans hope to make another jump this fall, expectations will be much higher. Can they live up to the hype?
As we dive into our team preview, here are some key 2023 Troy Trojans stats to monitor.

Great Anticipation Surrounding Defending Champs
Sumrall hit it big in his first season at Troy. The Trojans went 12-2, won the Sun Belt Conference championship, and beat UTSA 18-12 in the Cure Bowl. They ended the season on an 11-game winning streak (second to only national champion NCAAF stats.
Fortunately, plenty of key pieces are back, including linebackers Richard Jibunor and Javon Solomon and cornerback Reddy Steward. While the Trojans could use more help offensively, they do return quarterback Gunnar Watson. Watson was named MVP of the Sun Belt Championship Game after throwing for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, Kimani Vidal figures to be one of the best running backs in the conference. Look for big 2023 Troy Trojans stats.
National Championship Odds: Not in the Slightest Chance
It may be fun to dream about, but that’s all Troy can do. The possibility of the Trojans getting to the national championship, let alone winning it, is slim to none. So long as they remain in the Sun Belt — or any other Group of Five conferences, for that matter — there’s simply nothing the Trojans can do to reach the pinnacle of college football. This time last year, their odds were +100000. Now, they’ve been cut in half. Even those seem too generous.
Conference Odds: Repeat a Strong Possibility
At +320, Troy has the second-shortest odds to win the Sun Belt behind Appalachian State, which is in the midst of overhauling its offense. Expect Sumrall and Co. to post strong 2023 Troy Trojans stats.
Regular Season Wins: Lofty Total Ahead
Ticketed for 6.5 wins, Troy blew past expectations in 2022. This year, projections are understandably much higher. Troy is one of four teams in the Sun Belt picked for 8.0 wins, ing Coastal Carolina, James Madison and South Alabama. The September schedule is tough. In addition to non-conference games against Western Kentucky (Sept. 23), the Trojans open Sun Belt play with James Madison (Sept. 16). Can they survive that difficult three-week stretch? If so, they should be in decent shape. They don’t play either Coastal Carolina or Marshall, which helps.
To Make Playoffs: Nice Try, But Nope
No team from the Sun Belt has ever made the College Football Playoff. That’s incredibly unlikely to change, no matter how good Troy or anybody else from the league performs. The strength of the schedule, among other things, simply isn’t there.
