MLB Weekend Results Recap: Texas Rangers Take Lead With Impressive Opening Weekend

Opening Weekend Complete, Three Teams Undefeated

The 2023 season got off to a typical start when betting money lines with 30 of 50 favorites cashing tickets. As usual, 60% of winners weren’t good enough to turn an overall profit (-105). Betting the dog blindly was even worse with -428 units lost for $100 bettors. Another season of pouring over MLB latest betting news and numbers.

Texas Rangers Make Opening Statement

Rangers to kick the season off. The 4x All-Star lasted 3.2 innings, giving up six hits and five earned runs. Not great but when your team backs you with 11 of their own runs, the pitching can afford to be mediocre for now, handing the defending National League Champions an 11-7 loss.

The Rangers came right back in game two with another 16 runs in a 15-3 route. Then on Sunday Night Baseball Texas proved that when they need a spectacular pitching performance that Martin Perez can be relied on after giving up one run in 5 â…” to help the Rangers (3-0) sweep the Phillies 0-3) with a 2-1 win.

The Rangers profited $256 for $100 bettors, the best in MLB through the first weekend. New Ranger manager Bruce Bochy couldn’t have asked for a better effort from his team with his team three games over .500 for the first time since August of 2019. That season Texas hit a peak record of 58-54, but then went 20-30 the rest of the way.

The Orioles, while the Phillies head to New York to take on the Yanks. There were a couple of other teams we want to spotlight in our MLB weekend result recap.

Guardians Impressive On Road; Take 3 of 4 From Seattle

Seattle Mariners, but that didn’t stop them from taking three of the four games while giving Guardian bettors a nice start to the season with 255 units won. Sunday, Cleveland needed extra innings and a Cal Raleigh error in the 10th to push across the sixth run in a 6-5 victory.

Raleigh’s throw to Ty was low after sticking in the Seattle catcher’s hand too long forcing a throw in the dirt while trying to complete the backend of a double play. Cleveland will start Zach Plesac in Oakland, Monday. Plesac is trying to break through after a 3-12 2022.

The Mariners and George Kirby take on the Angels. Kirby racked up 29K’s in 23 ⅔ innings against Los Angeles last season. We conclude our MLB weekend results recap, by turning our attention to the powerless Royals.

Royals’ Offense Non-Existent Against Twins

Three games against the Minnesota Twins resulted in three losses for Royals bettors. It has left many wondering where the offense is going to come from after scoring a total of four runs, with all of them coming Sunday in a 7-4 loss. Prior, Kansas City was shut out twice 2-0 kicking the series off. KC was at least a +125 home underdog in all three games, Joey Gallo, who appears to be recovering from his time in New York, hit two homers to power the Twins in the finale.

The last time the Twins swept an opening was in 2017 against, you guessed it, the Miami, they’ll be a slight road favorite. The Royals will be significant underdogs against the Jays (-130), not exactly the team you want to see come to town with a sputtering offense.

After our first MLB weekend results here were the winners and losers from the weekend.
