Soccer Betting: Ligue 1 Matchday 4 Odds

Six Unbeaten Teams Left

PSG Takes Early Ligue 1 Lead

Defending champions French teams with undefeated records. Lens, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, and Lorient will all try to extend their streaks this weekend. Let’s take a look at this weekend’s slate of games and the Ligue 1 Matchday 4 odds.

Ajaccio vs Lille:

Ajaccio figure to be fighting off relegation this season.

In fact, this is the single most difficult season to survive in Ligue 1. Four, instead of two, teams will be relegated as Ligue 1 moves to an 18-team format for the 2022-23 season. Each and every match has an added significance as a result. That said, Ajaccio could certainly use a win here but are +260 home underdogs.

Lille comes in as +115 favorites, despite the beating they took at home vs PSG. Ajaccio shouldn’t be underestimated, as they’ve had an incredibly difficult ligue 1 schedule to start off the season. Conceding just four goals total in matches vs Lyon, Rennes, and Lens is an achievement despite a winless start. With Ajaccio’s defensive prowess it is easy to see why under 2½ shows -150 Ligue 1 Matchday 4 odds.

Lens vs Rennes:

Ligue 1 fixtures and table show that Lens has a favorable run of games after this one. So, a win vs a solid Rennes team could continue their momentum. This is expected to be a highly competitive game, though, as it’s listed as a pick’em.

Home side Lens is slight +145 favorites, while Rennes, last season’s fourth-place team, is priced at +180. Lens has enjoyed this fixture in recent seasons and is unbeaten in the last four. In that time, they’ve conceded just one goal to Rennes. However, Rennes does have an explosive offense with Martin Terrier, Arnaud Kalimuendo, and Gaetan Laborde.

Rennes’ is coming off of a 2-1 win over Ajaccio, their first victory of the season but are yet to keep a shutout. Lens scored four goals in their 4-1 win vs Monaco last weekend but show just +120 odds to score two or more goals.

Nice vs Marseille:

Nice has had a difficult start to Lucien Favre’s second spell as head coach. They haven’t won a match yet and face a difficult foe in Marseille on Sunday. Marseille has picked up where they left off last season and remains undefeated heading into Matchday 4. OM picked up a 2-1 win over Nantes their last time out.

This match usually produces goals, as five of the last six meetings in all competitions have finished with three or more. One of the better recent Ligue 1 betting tips has been taking Nice to score in this match. They’ve scored in their last six matches vs Marseille. The odds board is identical for this match as Nice and Marseille both sit at +160 odds to win. A draw, which happened at the Allianz Riviera last season, shows +240 odds.

Both teams are missing players due to suspension on Sunday. Marseille center-back Samuel Gigot picked up a red card last weekend. Meanwhile, both Mario Lemina and Jean-Clair Todibo were sent off at Clermont for Nice and will miss this match. Alexis Sanchez is yet to score in two appearances for Marseille but the Chilean could cause problems for Nice on Sunday. Reims vs Lyon: Sunday, 11:05 a.m. EST

Reims vs Lyon:

french player since 1975 to score in his first three matches with the club. To continue the streak, Balogun will have to score against a tough Lyon team on Sunday. The 21-year-old striker is priced at +275 to score again on Sunday.

Visitors to ligue 1 match.

Reims, who have lost twice and drawn once this season, are +330 home underdogs. Curiously, Reims are unbeaten in the last three Ligue 1 fixtures vs Lyon. Last season, OL managed a scoreless draw at Reims, and the Ligue 1 Matchday 4 odds price another deadlock at +300.

PSG vs Monaco:

Kylian Mbappe scored just eight seconds into PSG’s 7-1 win over Lille. He matched the Ligue 1 record for the fastest goal and the Parisians are firing on all cylinders under Christophe Galtier. Mbappe and PSG will welcome his former team Monaco to the Parc des Princes on Sunday with PSG confident of getting another win.

Paris Saint-Germain is -550 favorites and they’ve looked nearly unstoppable through the first three matches. They’ve averaged nearly six goals per game and have scored 10 more goals than any other team. There were chemistry and injury issues with their superstar trio of Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar last season; however, they’re all healthy and look to be enjoying themselves in the early goings.

Despite the lopsided Monaco, who are +1100 underdogs, have won two of the last four. The last four meetings between the sides have finished in shutout wins for one team. In fact, Monaco was the last team to shut PSG out, back in March. That day, the Monegasques picked up a 3-0 win but it’ll be a tough task to repeat.
