Premier League titles. The odds imply City could pull it off but there are a bunch of solid contenders next season. We’ll take a look at some of the top contenders, dark horses and longshots as we review the 2023-24 Champions League outrights.
Top Contenders
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are +200 favorites to win back-to-back Champions League titles. Erling Haaland led the 2022-23 RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid en route to the final. There, they defeated Inter Milan 1-0.
Next up on the list is Bayern Munich, who sit at +700 2023-24 Champions League outrights. Bayern won an 11th straight Bundesliga title by the skin of their teeth. However, they may benefit from a full offseason with coach Thomas Tuchel, who took over mid-season. Jamal Musiala is one to watch for the Bavarians.
Lee Kang-in and Cher Ndour are reportedly on their way.
Dark Horses
Napoli shocked the Italian footballing world by winning the 2022-23 Serie A title. They lost in the Champions League quarterfinal to AC Milan but could make another run if they’re able to keep Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen together. They and Manchester United both come in at +1600 odds to win the UCL.
United could jump up this list if they’re able to complete the g of Harry Kane from Tottenham. They have Marcus Rashford but would certainly like to add another high-level forward to the side. Newcastle were battling Premier League relegation 18 months ago and are now top-ten Champions League contenders. Eddie Howe’s Magpies are priced at +2000 odds and their matches on the UEFA Champions League schedule will be must-watch propositions.
Bundesliga title but couldn’t take down Mainz on the final day. They’ve already lost Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid but consistently do a good job replacing their best players. Dortmund show +2500 odds to win their first Champions League since 1997.
Intriguing Long Shots
Atletico Madrid have made the Champions League final twice under Diego Simeone but not since 2016. The 2023-24 Champions League outrights price Atleti at +3300 but they finished last in their group last season.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan were one win away from winning the Champions League in 2022-23. Inter, under Simone Inzaghi, had a stellar defense that carried them to the final. Inter may not get such a favorable knockout stage draw this time around and also show +3300 outright odds.
Benfica have been Champions League staples over the last few years. They both sit at +4000 odds to win but have fewer resources than the teams above them on this list. Benfica did bring in exciting prospect Orkun Kokcu from Feyenoord as Leipzig lost Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea.
AC Milan also display +4000 odds to win the Champions League and got as far as the semifinal in 2022-23. There, the Rossoneri lost to rivals Inter Milan but managed to sign key winger Rafael Leao to a contract extension.
Fellow Italian club Lazio come in at +5000 odds but haven’t reached the Real Sociedad both stand at +6600 odds as well.
