Cherneka Johnson vs Ellie Scotney Odds Favor Scotney

IBF Super Bantamweight Title: Is an Upset Brewing at +375?

Cherneka Johnson vs Ellie Scotney odds expect a big performance from the unbeaten Scotney, who looks to claim the title off Johnson.

In of boxing schedules, Johnson has had the harder time of it, which bodes well for an upset as the +375 underdog.

It should be an entertaining fight and there is value with boxing odds.

Johnson is Ranked Higher

Despite being the underdog with Cherneka Johnson vs Ellie Scotney odds, Johnson is the higher ranked fighter at fourth in the world.

The Australian is being thrown in the deep end having to fight Scotney in London, which is never easy, but the dimensions of the ring are still the same.

If she can weather the crowd being against her, she has every chance to cause an upset and retain her IBF Super Bantamweight title, which she won when beating Melissa Esquivel in Melbourne.

Our only worry is that she has never traveled. She has yet to fight outside of Australia, but the New Zealand-born fighter has a good team behind her.

“I always knew I was a fighter at heart, and I was a warrior to push through hard times and I’ve just shown that to the whole world,” Johnson said.

She’s fighting through plenty of personal strife, following her brother’s murder outside a gym in Australia. She’s using that as her inspiration to keep her title, so she could have more to lose than Scotney.

She also has 16 fights on her record, with six of her 15 wins coming by knockout. Scotney has only six fights and she has yet to win by knockout, so the power advantage goes to the champion.

We think the sportsbook should give Johnson more respect, so money could come for her throughout the week.

Scotney Rising the Ranks

Now fifth in the world, Scotney is making her way up the rankings, which could result in a title on Saturday.

Cherneka Johnson vs Ellie Scotney odds expect her to get the job done following a unanimous decision win over Mary Romero at Wembley Arena, which will make her feel right at home.

It was a close fight against Romero, who was 8-2 at the time. It’s not the best form guide, but she looked much better when beating Maria Cecilia Roman in 2022.

“It’s my turn to deliver,” said Scotney. “I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to walk out IBF champion of the world and I’m certain I will be.

“Being the underdog (in the eyes of the boxing public), there’s no pressure. I know what I’m capable of, I don’t feel like the underdog. Come Saturday night, you’ll see.”

She might believe she’s the underdog, but the -550 odds suggest otherwise. Scotney is expected to win, and she has plenty of money being pumped into her, but that doesn’t always translate to success.

Taking -550 is too risky, so we would much rather lock in +375 with Johnson, who could go for the knockout in the early rounds.
